Sydlexia — Unbreaking broken type
Barbara Hoi, the founder of Sydlexia, wants to transform the misconception that dyslexia is a learning disability. Sydlexia, based in Sydney, Australia, focuses on the identification and treatment of Dyslexia. It's a perspective based on Dyslexics being 'picture thinkers', with strengths lying in visual, tactile and spatial perception.
Award winning brand identity for Dyslexia is recognisable world wide since Impact BBDO Dubai launched the project. Created here are a series of posters that illustrate exactly how difficult making sense of a word can be. These also turn into amazing origami pieces which, once folded correctly, create the word.
The minimal design, for such a serious thing, is lovely to see. They've drawn together the simple with the technical. The wonderfully-chosen pastel colours show a brightness and softness inherent to the brand. It's interesting to see the interactive pieces used in an on-the-street medium, the printed posters add an intriguing feel when the poster isn't seen in its folded form.
We look forward to seeing more progression of this brand identity and what's still to come.
