Pontus In The Air!
Pontus in the Air is a restaurant located at Sweden’s Arlanda Airport. Pontus Frithiof, Swedish chef and entrepreneur, worked with Stockholm-based design studio Bold, who have worked together previously, to create the brand identity for this, his latest project. Together with illustrator Klara Persson, they created a hand-drawn style which has become an integral part of the identity.
It’s a colourful, charismatic and energetic brand identity, inspired by Chef Stenshall’s larger than life character. Located in the airport, Bold wanted to bring the constant movement and energy of the environment into the branding, which has really taken off (pun totally intended).
The restaurant consists of 3 areas: The Brasserie with table service, The Market a self-service section and Take-Off a take-away area for passengers, catering for all traveller's needs!
The nice selection of earthy colours and visuals make this restaurant feel like a relaxed and approachable environment but with a stylish edge.
A highlight is Klara Persson's stunning illustration style which has helped the whole project to blossom. Persson’s illustrations involve chairs, suitcases and baguettes all being thrown in the air, adding a humorous feel with liquids spilling and animals listening to walk-mans. She does a brilliant job of creating this playful world, which manages to somehow avoid coming over as childish, and gives whole brand more of an approachable, distinctive and memorable look and feel. The illustrations can be seen throughout the restaurant, business cards and menu and these printed materials also have a brilliant slanted typographical alignment, giving yet another feel of being 'up in the air’.
Bold and Klara Persson have undoubtedly done a fantastic job of getting Pontus In The Air off the runway.
